Message From Mayor Buddy Dyer

Welcome to the new Amway Center in beautiful Downtown Orlando. This community venue was built by and is dedicated to the residents of Central Florida. Previously, our region lacked the modern facilities needed to attract top notch entertainment and sporting events, forcing residents to travel elsewhere to experience them. Orlando is now home to one of the most technologically-advanced arenas in the country providing a vast array of cultural, sporting and entertainment options to residents. Inside the Amway Center you will find amenities for every level of patron, including unique concession offerings, activities for kids, bigger seats, better sightlines and more spacious concourses.

The Amway Center is the centerpiece of Downtown Orlando’s revitalization. Your visit to Amway Center is an opportunity for you to discover Downtown Orlando and experience the unparalleled opportunities available in the area. Whether it’s grabbing a bite to eat, shopping, exploring an art museum, strolling tree-lined streets and parks or even watching a movie, downtown offers something for everyone.

Once again thank you for visiting the Amway Center website. It is my hope that whether you are going to your first concert with friends or watching an Orlando Magic basketball game with your family, the Amway Center will be a place where experiences are shared and memories are made – moments to be cherished for generations to come. So come on down to the Amway Center and explore a community venue unlike anything Orlando has seen before.

Sincerely,

Buddy Dyer,

Mayor

About the City of Orlando

Orlando has gained international notoriety for its theme parks and attractions that annually draw more than 50 million people from throughout the world. The greater Orlando community has much to offer visitors and residents alike, from year-round outdoor activities to various arts, sporting and cultural opportunities. Orlando is much more than the world’s leading vacation destination. It is a place creating the careers of tomorrow with a $15.7 billion modeling-and-simulation industry, a well-established and growing digital media industry, and a burgeoning medical and life sciences cluster.

Downtown Orlando, which serves as the economic hub of the Central Florida region, is a world-class urban core with residential, retail and commercial development. Now, with the completion of the Amway Center, Downtown is on the cusp of a cultural arts-and-entertainment transformation.

Led by the vision of Mayor Buddy Dyer, Orlando is developing the largest public building project in Central Florida history: a unique $1.1 billion public/private investment in three state-of-the-art community venues (Amway Center, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and extensive renovation and reconstruction to the Florida Citrus Bowl) that will be built using leading environmental standards. The Amway Center is the first portion of the project to be completed.

In July 2007, the Orlando City Council, the Orange County Board of Commissioners and the Orlando Magic made history, giving the green light to one the region’s most significant public, multi-building projects, paving the way for construction of these three Downtown assets. The strategic investment made by the City of Orlando, Orange County and the Orlando Magic will further Mayor Dyer’s vision for a revitalized Downtown and Parramore Heritage Neighborhood, and deliver enhanced entertainment, sports and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
